-The Salsa Never Ends (Jazz Caliente)
In this production by one of Los Angeles' famous violinists, Susie Hansen, there is everything for everyone. There's Salsa, Jazz, Merengue and even some romantic salsa. Of course this production is geared for the dancer in all of us. With some of L.A.'s renowned musicians, The Salsa Never Ends packs a wallop of rhythm. I'm telling you, it is one of those releases that fits in any party because of the variety of music it has. Hansen, using an electric violin, obviously is the main voice of the band, the one that has many roles to play. She plays the montuno parts, the melody and then the solos. Hansen has talent and a perfect sense of clave that makes the ears and the feet happy. Tracks that call attention are 'Tambo,' 'Elegua,' the hyperfast Merengue 'Blues Con Fuego' and 'I want to Know.' This is another example that in the City of Angels, Salsa is still expanding.
